Remarkably intelligent, highly focused,lively happy dogs. They are relatively calmer then their smaller counterparts. They do need a good amount of excercise to prevent any behavioral problems. They do love being with people.
Grooming Requirements
Poodles need to be brushed reularly and bathe every 4-6 weeks. It needs a haircut every 6 weeks. Make sure to clean the ears regularly, and brush the teeth early in life to get her used to the sensation.
Breed History
They were descended from fresh water dogs called Barbet(extinct) and the Hungarian water hound. The word poodle originated from Germany "Pudel" meaning one who likes to play in water. They were originally used in France and Germany as retriever dogs. The French capitalized on its intelligence and turned them into circus performers. In France it is still called the "Caniche" or waterfowl dog. They became royal favorites and thus ensuring their place in history during the 18th century.
