    Temperament /Training Tips
Chihuahuas are very loyal by nature and live well in confined areas. They do have a high penetrating bark that can get pretty persistent at times. They dislike the cold and are suprisingly social with other dogs. If you have to be out for extended periods, consider a companion for your dog.
    Grooming Requirements
Wipe smooth coated ones with a damp cloth weekly or as needed. Brush gently daily, bathe every couple of months. The long haired type needs to bathe at least once a month. Make sure to dry them thoroughly as they despise cold.
    Breed History
Named after the Mexican state were they originated from. They are likely descendents of an old breed called Techichi, which was raised by the Toltee Indians during the 9th century. Recognized by the AKC in 1904.
