1. Venipuncture for blood collection
a. Snakes-tail vein in large snakes,cardiocentesis
in small snakes
b. lizard-ventral tail vein
c. Chelonians(turtle)-jugular vein
2. Tracheal wash- help evaluate respiratory diseases
in reptiles through culture and sensitivity.
3. Colonic wash
4. Radiography
5. Injections- intramuscularly, intravenously,
intracoelemic
a. keep in mind the dosages of the medications and
the renal portal sysytem in some speceis
6. Fluid therapy- orally or transcutaneously
a. placing patient in warm shallow water will allow
some fluid absorption in turtles
7. Maintain temperature-radiant heat,or incubators.
