HAVE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY HOLIDAY
Independence Day is a day to celebrate and eat.
But during your celebrations take time to make it a safe one for you and your pet. Many veterinarians are called in on an emergency for things that could have been prevented. Making your holiday more costly than you hoped. Below are some common problems that should be reviewed:
1. Make sure you have enough pet medications including tranquilizers
if necessary before the holiday.
2. Don't feed your pet cooked chicken bones.
3. Don't be nice, be kind and feed them their regular diet to prevent gastric upset
( this will also be kind to you because you won't have to clean up after.)
4. Keep your trash can locked or out of the way. Same result as # 3
5. Make sure your pet stays away from fireworks. Many pets attack loud noises
or become stressed and exhibit panic attacks.
6. Pets may react differently with crowds or guests. So don't insist people pet
them or socialize with them. Your guests may also break advice # 2 & # 3
leaving you holding the paper towels or going to the vet.
7. The kindest way may be to put your pet in
a separate room or board them for the day.
